I have a friend that recently went baby-packing, and she said that during one of the hikes, the baby got really sleepy, but there was no place for the baby to rest her head because it was level with the parent's head. Does anyone know of a good baby-pack that would allow the child to sleep during the hike if necessary?

Re: Good Baby-Packs
Tue, August 30, 2005 - 5:08 AMHi!
i guess it all depends on the age of the baby, and if the baby can hold its head up by it self...if so the "african way" is the best in my expirience. when my son was 6month i carried him on my back with a big cloth rapped around my body (knod above and under my breasts) the babys legs spred out around my waist, trough India, But this is only possible if the baby can hold its neck. if not, its safer and more comftable to carry the baby on the stomack..there are several different ways. I recomend to buy a "Babybjorn" (www.babybjorn.com) that makes it easy to carry the newborn on your stomack.
good luck!love and respect

Re: Good Baby-Packs
Sun, October 16, 2005 - 1:04 AMFor a kidlet over 7 or 8 months, the Kelty Kids Backpacks are great. Roo, my littlest sprog would sleep in his often. As you can see from the pic bellow, his head was level with mine, but when he would sleep, he'd usually put his head on my shoulder. Sometimes when his head would wobble a bit, we'd stick a jacket or sweater up there to help him out.

Now that I think of it, though, you could probably get one of those neck pillows that people use on long airplane flights, you know the U shaped ones you can get at travel stores. That would help support the sproglet's head while you walk.
Good luck!
